Although most people think of a large parrot with white feathers and a yellow crest when they think of a cockatoo, cockatoos actually come in many different colorations and sizes. However, it is true that all cockatoos have large crests, as well as distinct curved beaks..
There are dozens of species of cockatoo, all of which can be found in Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. The crest of the cockatoo actually reflects how theyre feeling. A vertical crest shows pleasure or excitement, a crest parallel with their body shows neutrality, and a flattened crest depicts fear or hostility.
